The Garden District was developed between 1832 and 1900, previously being the site of a number of plantations.  It was sold off in parcels to wealthy Americans who didn’t want to live in the French Quarter with the Creoles. 

Lafayette Cemetery No. 1 was founded in 1833.  It’s been closed in 2006, after Hurricane Katrina damaged most of it.  It is famous for being the filming location of numerous movies and TV shows; if something was filmed in a New Orleans’ cemetery, chances are, this is the one.
